Blissfield First Presbyterian Church's
M.P. Möller Pipe Organ
Re-Dedication Concert

May 22, 2011 – 2:30 pm

Below is a copy of the church bulletin used on the afternoon of May 22, 2011 as we celebrated the restoration of our historic Möller pipe organ.  This organ was installed in 1929, the 100th anniversary year of our church's founding.  That afternoon we re-dedicated the organ and enjoyed an afternoon of beautiful music.  By clicking on the blue links below, you too can listen and enjoy the wonderful music program. We want to thank all the musicians who honored us with their wonderful talent as well as those members of the congregation who helped us present this concert.

Blissfield First Presbyterian Church
M.P. Möller Pipe Organ Re-Dedication
May 22, 2011 – 2:30 pm

Welcome by Doug Case

Piano and Organ Prelude – Brian Barrus, piano and Diana Maloney, organ

Welcome (responsively) – Pastor Bob Bidwell

O World, come together in one place,
And suddenly an almighty roar shall sound:

The rush of a mighty wind,
A tempest from the mountaintop!

O World, kneel together in one place,
And suddenly a fiery pillar shall rise:

The tongue of a fiery spirit,
A flash from heaven’s crown!

O World, come and kneel together:
And the place shall be sacred: the moment, divine!

Let us worship God with singing, with music, with thanksgiving and praise!

A Dedication Litany - from Psalm 150 (responsively) – Brian Barrus

For the gift of music and song,

We praise you, O God, in your sanctuary

For notes and rhythm and varieties of expression,
We praise you, O God, in your mighty firmament!
For our ancestors in the faith, who invested in music for future generations,
We praise you, O God, for your mighty deeds!

For all those who have offered their musical gifts in this space,
We praise you, O God, with trumpet sounds!

For the inspiration and joy that music brings to our worship,
We praise you, O God, with tambourine and dance!
For those who with great artistry and expertise, brought our organ back to life,
We praise you, O God, with strings and pipes!

For those who invested in repairs and renovation,
We praise you, O God, with clanging cymbals,
with loud clashing cymbals!

For the music that will be produced through these pipes and keyboard for many generations to come,
We praise you, O God.
With every breath that we take,
With every song that we sing,
With all that we are,
We praise you, O God. Amen.

A Prayer of Dedication – Brian Barrus
Eternal God, our praises join with the songs of heavenly choirs and the music of the universe. May this organ encourage our praise and lift our singing. May the music it produces bring our prayers to you in times of joy and times of sorrow. Trusting in Jesus Christ, we dedicate this organ in your name, O God, now and always. Amen.
