Mission to the USA (MUSA)

October 1 – November 11, 2009

PLAN NOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MISSION TO THE U.S.A. PROGRAM IN 2009 AND WELCOME AN ECUMENICAL MISSION PARTNER TO YOUR CONGREGATION FOR SIX WEEKS THIS FALL.

The Synod of the Covenant is expecting ten (10) church leaders from Eastern Europe to spend October 1 to November 11, 2009 with individual congregations.   As part of our Mission to the U.S.A. Program, these ecumenical partners will preach, teach and become a part of a host congregation, celebrating our oneness in Christ as they share their stories of faith. They are not just guests or visitors.  We call them “mission partners” because they are coming here as missionaries to us.  The very idea turns our traditional concept of what “mission” is upside down.  In our abundance, we usually think about what we have to give to others.  Seldom do we think about what those who may have less than we do materialistically have to give to us from their spiritual wealth. The goals of the Mission to the USA Program are to:

  • Educate members of participating churches about another part of the world and the challenges facing Christians there,
  • Provide a fresh perspective on the gospel of Jesus Christ
  • Help U.S. Christians acquire a deepened understanding of the global nature of Christ’s church,
  • Challenge U.S. Christians to greater faithfulness our own country.
